Abstract: An editorial is presented which discusses blood donor selection for preventing transfusion-transmitted infections (TTIs). It focuses on the policy of deferral towards men with male sexual partners (MSM) to donate blood. The study on the sexual behavior of MSM, the risk for TTIs, and criteria for selecting MSM blood donors is also presented.
