Abstract

This paper reflects on recent discussions of Positivism and Behaviourism in clinical psychology practice, considering their expression in specialist intellectual disability services. I describe relatively recent evidence of the ideological positivism inherent in behavioural practice and a simplistic understanding of behaviourism by its practitioners, which lacks subtlety or historical reflection on its own misuse.
