Abstract

The urban adaptations of the process of concentration and dispersion give rise to new centralities and these have transportation as the system that will allow the establishment of productive relations. Given the hypothesis that the reasons for travel in the network can indicate how the productive relations contribute to the emergence of emergent centralities, the objective of this work is defined that is to segment displacements for reasons of travel, identifying more intense zones, as well as Better understand how the transport system interacts with the urban environment. The study was implemented with 2005 data from the Urban Transport Master Plan of the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro (RMRJ), using GIS tool and the Jenks optimization model for natural breaks of intervals. The study identified a variability in the profile of the centralities, as well as in the variability of the role of the productive functions, the centralities and the transport network.
