Abstract

The article focuses on research examining if marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge could reduce his time running the Berlin, Germany marathon to under two hours by using cooperative drafting (CD). It states on September 16, 2018 he eclipsed the previous world record for the Berlin marathon by one minute, 18 seconds for a time of 2:01:39. It utilizes mathematical models to examine how CD would benefit running speed and found three Kipchoge-like-runners could together beat the two-hour marathon barrier.
