Abstract

A bipolar 1×16 amplifier array is described for hybrid integration with an 8×8 p-i-n photodiode array receiver and application for parallel data interconnects through optical fibre arrays or free-space imaging. Limiting amplifiers of the transimpedance–transadmittance type were designed for low power consumption in BiCMOS technology, and measured results for operation at 622 Mbits/s of the packaged amplifier–photodetector arrays are given. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
