Abstract
- In this paper, a four-port digital millimetric receiver (FP/DMR) is studied in detail. The FP/DMR is achieved by eliminating one of the output ports and the reference port of an ordinary six-port junction in the digital millimetric receiver proposed earlier. This paper provides the principle of operation of FP/DMR, its real time or “on-line” calibration methods, and a comparison with a traditional quadrature I/Q receiver. The principle of operation of the FP/DMR can also be used at lower frequencies (e.g., in the L-band) whenever mass-market applications demand the lowest possible receiver costs. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
