This article discusses about how the Cuban writer and poet Reinaldo Arenas handles the imprecise borders between history and literature in the novells O Mundo Alucinante (1996), succeeding to approach by fiction historical contemporary problems confronted by the author in the context of the Cuban Revolution (1959). It seeks to demonstrate that Arenas entered the nationalist debate of his time by the means of soup opera, introducing an option to the imaginary revolutionary nation in an inclusive perspective regarding the sexuality.
