Abstract

The advances in archaeological research in the Argentine Chaco designed to identify pottery components through the use of numerical techniques are presented. As a result, a similarity model linking the levels excavated with grids is obtained. To test the technique, radiocarbon dates on samples of the resulting groupings were made, which confirm the existence of two diachronic human occupations. This application case reinforces the validity of the analytical procedure allowing to optimize the selection of samples for producing radiocarbon dates. It also considers the review criterion of previous zooarchaeological information to prove the existence of eco-temporal variation in the availability and structure of resources.
