Abstract

The article informs that the periodical has decided to include a section focused on enteric infections and enteric dysfunction as diarrhea remains a leading cause of child mortality. Topics discussed include pathogens that have profound impacts on the gastrointestinal system like Shigella spp., rotavirus, adenovirus, heat-stable toxin enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli; and evidence that suggests infection with enteric pathogens need not cause diarrhea to pose threats to child health.
