Abstract
- Introduction: Infantile hemangiomas are frequent benign tumors in childhood. In newborns its incidence is estimated at 1-3%, reaching 10% in children under one year. Case report: Female patient, who from the birth she had a single raised, protruding lesion, with sharp edges, bright red, on the left ear. This lesion became more evident at three months of age, with a faster growth rate compared to the patient's growth, covering the entire ear; on multiple occasions she presented ulcerations and bleeding. She was admitted to the emergency department with hypovolemic shock data; and she was treated with crystalloids, transfusion of erythrocyte concentrate, and treatment with propanolol was started. She underwent surgery at the age of two years 10 months without complications. Discussion: Hemangioma cases, such as this patients require multidisciplinary treatment approach, given the size, site location and high risk of sequelae. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
