Abstract

The article analyzes the impact of oil well drilling and pipeline construction projects on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. It expresses concerns on the activities of oil companies because the wildlife refuge has been used by 200 species of birds migrating from 50 states and six continents. The vulnerability of birds and other wildlife to oil spills and other water-borne pollution is discussed, as well as the connection between climate change and fossil fuels.
