Abstract

Intensive care units where complex treatment methods are used, including mechanical ventilation, have a higher risk of nosocomial infections acquired at this ward. The most common infection associated with mechanical ventilation is pulmonary inflammation (VAP). The aim of this study was to determine what microbiological factor influenced the occurrence of respiratory pneumonia in a patient hospitalized in the intensive care unit and it changed on individual days of hospitalization based on the value of the exponents of inflammation. The bacteriological agent that caused the occurrence of respiratory pneumonia in a patient hospitalized in the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care was Acinetobacter baumannii. Symptoms of inflammation on particular days varied and influenced the patient's condition in a variable way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
