Abstract

The article covers research on Tennessee's use of transition courses in which high school students could earn the right to enroll in credit-bearing classes rather than remedial courses in higher education. It found that the courses helped students enroll directly into college math and to earn additional credits but that the transition course did not seem to improve students' actual math knowledge.
