Before starting one's Georgetown, Washington D.C. tour, pick up a "Gallery Guide" and a "Georgetown Art & Antique Map & Guide," free at area shops. Next, go a block west to Wisconsin Avenue NW and head north for a tour of Georgetown's "magic mile" of antiques. At Galerie L'Enfant, 1442 Wisconsin Avenue and P Street, three full floors are tilled with furniture and objects d'art from the Renaissance to the present. Paintings are displayed salon-style, with historical works hanging alongside pieces by contemporary artists such as Joseph Dawley, whose paintings sell for $1,500 to $100,000.
