Abstract

The use of a recyclable heterogeneous nanomagnetic solid acid catalyst, [Fe3O4@SiO2@(CH2)3NPC-SO3H]Cl, in a simple and highly efficient synthesis of benzothiazole derivatives by the reaction of aldehydes and o-aminothiophenol in water is reported. The MNP catalyst was characterized by FT-IR spectra, SEM, and TGA analysis, and vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM). The catalyst can be separated and recycled repeatedly by an external magnet without a significant loss in yield. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
