Abstract
- The article focuses on Michigan based Traverse Bay center's efforts in building literacy skills of students. The center was started when Michigan lawmakers adopted a policy that all students take 18 credits from among the core disciplines to graduate, including four in English/language arts. It is noted that the center has three full-time and two half full-time English language Art (ELA) teachers and serves students from 16 public school districts.
