Abstract

The proposed paper analyzes an investment project implemented to create a complete, efficient, simple and sustainable Community waste management system for a number of settlements in the western part of Romania. The purpose of these actions is to create a functional intervention framework of the local public administration authorities in the field of environmental protection in the target area. The implementation of the system proposed by this project will lead to compliance with current environmental rules and legislation, will contribute to the achievement of the objectives identified in the Regional Waste Management Plan and will develop a specific model of action for the protection of the environment in general and efficient management of waste in particular. The National Waste Management Plan includes objectives, targets and measures in the short and medium term. However, actions with longer deadlines, such as 2020, are also found. They have been retained because a long-term vision derived from the implementation of certain directives such as storage, incineration, etc. has also been considered when drawing up the plan, taking into account the awareness of decision-makers and stakeholders on the need to continue implementing national and European legislation.
