ISO 39001. Una herramienta para mejorar el desempeño de las organizaciones en seguridad vial.

The current paradigm on which the La Segunda Insurance Group (Argentina) bases its road safety work is the result of a long process that it started many years ago, and which was solely aimed at raising awareness of the human factor. Coming into contact with Vision Zero Safety philosophy meant understanding that the complexities of traffic call for accident prevention be addressed, bearing in mind not just this factor, but also the way that road and vehicle design and innovation may contribute to human errors not leading to loss of life or serious injury. The next step, and part of our logical progression, consisted of introducing the Road Safety Management System and its subsequent international certifications, given that our standardisation body is AENOR Spain, thereby allowing our company to become the first Latin American insurer to certify internationally using Standard ISO 39001 - 2013. Embarking on this task of standardising the Road Safety Management System provided us with a logical framework with which to organise the initiatives being undertaken in this area across the varying sectors of our organisation.
