She was named as one of Forbes's "30 Under 30" figures to watch in 2018, and "Brooklyn" magazine named Hughes fortieth in their list of 100 influential people in Brooklyn, New York City. She received an honorary doctorate of letters from the Connecticut College. She was born on October 25, 199, and grew up in Connecticut.
