Abstract
- In order to reduce the saturation degree of magnetic flux density at the pole shoe on the right side of the pole in a generator and reduce the pole‐to‐pole leakage, an asymmetric pole shoe structure is proposed in this paper. The influence of the asymmetric pole shoe structure on the generator performance is analyzed. First, a bulb tubular turbine generator with a single unit capacity of 24 MW is taken as an example. The two‐dimensional electromagnetic field model of the generator is established based on finite element analysis software, and the correctness of the model is verified through comparative analyses of the experimental results and simulation data. Second, the magnetic flux density distributions of poles under different pole shoe structure parameters are analyzed, and their distribution characteristics are also discussed. Finally, by studying the generator air gap flux density, average torque, torque ripple, eddy current loss, and core loss when the pole shoe structure is different, the variations of the above parameters along with the increase of the pole shoe depth are obtained. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
