Abstract

Six sigma program has received attention in organizations recently due to reported profits obtained after its implementation. However, the implementation factors that guide the six sigma program aren't consensual among researches around the world. In this context, this research aims to identify the factors associated with the six sigma implementation in companies operating in Brazil. Data collection was performed through a questionnaire based on the Six Sigma literature, which was applied to the target population of 483 clients of Six Sigma consulting firms, and 45 of these companies responded. The data were analyzed by exploratory factorial analysis with the objective of finding latent factors that could describe the original individual variables of the questionnaire in a smaller number of concepts. The following factors associated with the implementation of Six Sigma were found: Data availability, prior infrastructure and training, goals and gains, solution implementation, change resistance, involvement of top management and statistical thinking. These results provide us with a more comprehensive view for the Six Sigma program management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
