Abstract

A new chaos control method of Earth-Moon orbit transfer is proposed to reduce the transfer time of a spacecraft wandering in the chaotic region. Considering the circular restricted three-body problem (CRTBP), the chaotic region is divided into several layers according to the Poincare section map, and the rules of each layer are analyzed. Besides, the properties that the chaotic orbit is highly sensitive to the initial conditions are fully utilized, and the chaotic orbits are constructed to meet the requirement of minimizing the transfer time. The proposed method takes advantage of the rules in the chaotic region, which is not necessary to rely on the location of the periodic orbits. Finally, the numerical results are provided to reveal that the transport time in the chaotic region can be significantly reduced with only 2-4 impulses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
