A Deviance Approach to Understanding Use of Maternal Health Care Services in Bangladesh.

The article discusses a study that investigated relationships between women's deviation from community characteristics with use of maternal care services in Bangladesh. Deviance variables associated with service use include women's employment, exposure to family planning messages, and husband's employment. Findings showed that understanding association between deviation from community norms and receipt of maternal care may provide deeper understanding on how women use maternal care services.
