Abstract
- The author reflects on the meaning of deception in literature and the obligation of a novelist to the truth. He argues that nothing evil is intended if the reader believes in the character as the intention is give the reader some respite from the real world and create challenges with interested questions. He also claims that writers cross the boundaries of real deceit when they decide on a political motive.
