Abstract

The article offers information on the study related to chronic hypoxia that increases the susceptibility of the heart to acute hypoxia, The article includes information on preserved pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) function and dichloroacetate that improves cardiac metabolic flexibility. Topics include glycolysis, reperfusion of ischaemic hearts and the role of mitochondria in in maintaining metabolic flexibility.
