Abstract

The article discusses efforts by groups such as the Georgia Poverty Rights Organization (GPRO) to promote welfare program funding in Georgia during the 1970s. Topics include disputes over state funding of the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program, the role of black voters in supporting welfare programs, and the work of the groups Atlanta Welfare Rights Organization (AWRO) and Committee of Concerned Agencies (CCA).
