Abstract
- A literary criticism of the book "Three Years in Mississippi" by James Meredith is presented. It explores how Meredith clarified the problematic construction of African American masculinity in the struggle for racial equality in the U.S. South. It also investigates several reasons for the failure of the book to gain a wider readership, including its lack of warmth and Meredith's conservatism.
