Abstract: The article reports an increase in wages in the eurozone in 2018 after years of stagnation which baffled economists. European Central Bank president Mario Draghi has welcomed the trend and has announced the discontinuation of the central bank's stimulus measure by the end of the year. Several theories emerged for the wage increase including the acute labor shortage in Germany, the decline of unions, and globalization.
