Abstract
- The article explores the execution of U.S. Private Eddie Donald Slovik for desertion on January 31, 1945. Topics mentioned include Slovik's demand for a court-martial for deserting his military unit, his intentions to the Army as revealed by his confession to Private William O. Schmidt, and his trial in Roetgen, Germany wherein the judges found him guilty and voted that he will be shot to death with musketry.
