Abstract
- The article offers street signs in France which offers an insight into the French history. Topics discussed include popular figures such as writer Victor Hugo and the microbiologist Louis Pasteur commemorated in public places, a showcase of writers, philosophers and social reformers such as writer François-Marie Arouet, and streets bearing the name of Socialist party leader Jean Jaurès.
