Unexpected failures of machines are extremely important in manufacturing systems. Especially in series systems without backup units, a line should not fail and machinery should operate smoothly. Due to high numbers of failure and thereby, long repair times in a line, line capacity decreases and the delivery time of orders is subject to a delay and as a result, there is an increase concerning prices. In this sense, reliability analysis by using failure and repair data in the lines provide guidance in improving the lines. This study aims to determine potential areas for improvement and to set up a substructure in which both production is performed in line with the schedule and a decision-making support for maintenance activities is provided by carrying out the reliability analysis of two similar fruit juice bottling lines. Thus, a reliability analysis is performed for the lines and the five machines in both lines by using the data of failure and repair times for a period covering 5.5 months. First of all, nature of the failure regarding each machine is identified and then, the descriptive statistics of the lines and the machines in each line are obtained by the use of repair and failure data. The most appropriate distributions are determined for the machinery and the lines by the use of failure and repair data. By using the most appropriate distributions for the machinery and the lines, reliability estimations are obtained and the availability is calculated while the results are compared in terms of machinery and lines.
