Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze, in the context of the Brazilian and Paraguayan agrarian question, the struggle for land and socio-territorial movements, especially the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) and the Federación Nacional Campesina (FNC). The methodological procedures consisted of a literature review and analysis of the Fight for Land Database (DATALUTA) Brazil and Paraguay. We conclude that both countries have similarities in relation to the struggle for land and spaces built by socio-territorial movements in this process. Historically, land struggles were developing spontaneously and at local and regional scales. From the 1980s, with the establishment of socio-territorial movements, the struggle for land acquired national character and land occupations and demonstrations constituted as the main forms of struggle for access to land, the sojourn on earth, for the development of territories peasants and against the current agricultural development model, agribusiness.
