Abstract
- Contextualization: The habitual practice of physical activity is among the several determinants that contributes to a good health condition, which tends to vary throughout the life. Conducting studies to identify levels of physical activity in adolescents provides support in the implementation of programs that stimulate habitual practice of physical activity. Objective: To evaluate the level of physical activity among adolescents in the school network in Rio Verde-GO and to verify possible differences in the level of physical activity between the sexes and the public and private education networks. Method: The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) - a short version was applied to 1229 school adolescents aged 15 to 17 years, regularly enrolled in high school, in the morning in the municipality of Rio Verde-GO. Results: It was observed that 77.7% of the individuals evaluated were active. When considering the educational network, 71.03% and 81.78% of active individuals were found for the private and public entity, respectively. Regarding gender, we found 86.03% of assets for males and 70.26% for females. The percentage of active individuals was 85.38% in the private network and 86.41% in the public network, whereas in the female sex there was a percentage of 59.06% for active adolescents in the private network and 77% 47% in the public sector. Final considerations: The level of physical activity of these adolescents was high, being greater in the male sex, whereas in the educational networks the level of physical activity was higher in the adolescents belonging to the public network.
