Abstract
- The article analyzes the relationship between the twin-cities of Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Tamaulipas and the development of Charro Days, a holiday that was created as a marketing ploy to offset the effects of the Great Depression. It reports that the depression devastated the economies of South Texas and financial hardships were plaguing local businesses as tourism lulled and local residents battled economic instability.
