Abstract
- The article reports developments in the efforts by Catalonia to gain independence from Spain as of May 2018. Also cited are the election of Quim Torra as new regional president of Catalonia, the meeting made by Torra with Catalonia's 'legitimate' president Carles Puigdemont in Germany to discuss the situation in the region, and Puigdemont's appeal for unconditional negotiation with Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
