Abstract

This paper presents a study about the temperature and relative humidity difference registered between the urban and the rural area of Tapejara/PR, in order to check the occurrence of heat islands in small cities. The population of the city was around 15.572 inhabitants and is located in the southwest of Paraná. For this essay, we used the proposed method of Urban Climate System, by Monteiro (1976), by means of thermodynamic system, and analyzed the July 2014 meteorological of the Meteorological Station of Cianorte/PR made available by the Simepar Institute. There were installed digital thermohygrometers in six important points of the urban area and one point of the rural area for data gathering of temperature and relative humidity, in order to analyze the thermohigrometrical differences between the seven points in three representative periods of the day for the month of July 2014. The results show important differences in these elements, marking the formation of own microclimates, and the existence of urban heat island in the winter time. The choise of the winter analysis was the fact that this is the season considered more critical by the local population, as well as being the lowest total rainfall period coincides with the practice of burning straw sugar cane, since the municipality has in the sugar and alcohol sector is its main economic activity. In this way we emphasize that the research does not present representation for the annual scale because the study occurred only for the month of July. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
