EXPRESSÕES IDIOMÁTICAS NA OBRA "VIDAS SECAS".

The lexicology turns each time more to phraseological studies, subfield of lexical sciences that deals with signification units that are superior to the word, called phraseological units. This article analyses idiomatic expressions (IE's) in the book "Vidas Secas", by Graciliano Ramos. A systematization took place in the form of entry of the 41 IE's found in the piece. The study highlights: (i) the IE's are not a peculiarity of speech, but it is also present in written form; (ii) the importance of specialized dictionaries in idiomatic expressions, because such lexicographic pieces are still unknown to the general public, especially in the school place.
