Abstract

To date, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is the only way to restore a healthy and diverse microbiota in case of an imbalance called dysbiosis. Its effectiveness in case of relapsing Clostridium difficile infection is well established. On the other hand, in other conditions such as inflammatory bowel diseases or metabolic diseases where a correction of dysbiosis must be constantly renewed, FMT is not yet a well-established treatment. Studies on practical problems (fresh/frozen stools, donor choice...) still need to be carried out before a consensual and definitive answer can be given to these questions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
