Abstract

In this paper, the effects of rolling parameters of forming angle, stretching angle, area of reduction, core diameter on the interface bonding status of cross wedge rolling (CWR) of composite 42CrMo/Q235 laminated shaft were studied experimentally. It is finding that the effect of the stretching angle on the interface bonding status is larger than that of the forming angle. The larger stretching angle is more likely to cause a larger ovalization of the cross-sectional shape of the cladding layer for CWR composite laminated shaft. The cross wedge rolling can be successfully carried out if the area of reduction is controlled at range of 50-60%. In addition, the fitting modes on the interface bonding status of composite 42CrMo/Q235 laminated shaft were also studied experimentally. The tests clearly demonstrated the beneficial effect of small interference fit on interface bonding of cross wedge rolling composite laminated shaft. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
