HISTÓRIAS E MEMÓRIAS SOBRE A PESCA DO PIRARUCU NO AUATI-PARANÁ: DO BARRACÃO AO MANEJO COMUNITÁRIO.

This manuscript, of ethnographic and historical character, aims to present preliminary reflections on the importance and dynamics of pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) fishing in the Auati-Paraná river basin (tributary of Solimões River, Amazonas). From the perspective of indigenous Cocama, known as specialists in fishing techniques of this species, I therefore propose a discussion of how the strategies for maintaining "traditional" techniques of this type of fishing have been modified in accordance with the state and industry interventions that instituted new modes of social regulation.
