Abstract

The article discusses the U.S. Democratic Party's efforts to gain the majority in state legislatures, in order to control them, from 2009 through 2018, including their competing in elections against members of the U.S. Republican (GOP) Party. An overview of Democrats in Virginia's competing in elections against Republican candidates is provided.
