EPIDEMIOLOGIA DA HIV/AIDS EM TERESINA-PI: ANÁLISE RETROSPÉCTIVA.

30 years after the onset of the AIDS epidemic, the disease is considered a global public health problem, since some regions still exhibit increased HIV infection, affecting several people, without distinction of age, sex, race or religion whose the disease profile has been undergoing major epidemiological changes. For this reason, this study describes the epidemiologic aspects of AIDS epidemic in Teresina - PI, from 2003 to 2013. For this purpose, an epidemiological, observational, transversal descriptive and quantitative study was conducted. All diagnosed cases were reviewed with AIDS using the Datasus database. The variables analyzed were: year of diagnosis, sex, age, education, race/color and exposure category. The statistical analysis was performed in Microsoft Excel 2010 software. The results of the analysis noted the disease prevalence in males, aged between 25 and 49 years, with schooling from 5th to 8th grade, browns, and heterosexuals. However, concluded that the epidemiological profile of AIDS cases analyzed in this study was according to the profile of the epidemic in other parts of Brazil, which affects different population groups according to their vulnerability.
