This issue focuses on contributions from a workshop dealing with "Specialist portals, information services and scientific networks". Specialist portals are web applications which contain heterogeneous contents and features on one web interface, specialist information services are library services made to meet the needs of scientific publications, in scientific networks, the members, their academic works and communicative relations are the centre of attention.
