Abstract

This paper proposes a method that uses an imaging reverse proxy server to protect contents of web sites against plagiarists. The imaging reverse proxy server is placed between clients (web browsers) and web servers, and it behaves like as if it were a normal reverse proxy server except converting author specified contents to images that have almost the same appearances as the original contents. The proposed method makes it difficult for plagiarists to copy contents of a web page because plagiarists can never access original contents but converted images through the proposed server. We evaluated the proposed method by measuring response times and transferred sizes, and the result of the evaluation shows that the proposed method is a great help for original authors of web sites to protect their contents against plagiarists.
