Abstract

In many countries, salaries of the academic teaching staff consist of several sources: base salary, bonuses, uplifts and subsidies, which vary individually. In Russia, this system is less developed. Thus, for example, basing on the comparative analysis of employee compensation systems in universities, we can deduce that each education institute makes a list of incentive payments independently. Almost all universities of the country have insufficiently oriented formal connections between the performance criteria of the academic teaching staff and the results that the universities intend to achieve and that are recorded in programs, projects and development strategies. The attained results formed the basis for hypothesis that the "efficient contract" may make one of the tools to achieve priority goals and tasks of the university, including its entry into the world rankings.
