Abstract
- The article examines the idea of intrinsic value in wilderness and in Western philosophical traditions, and evaluates the concept of topophilia which characterizes the relationship of Chinese people with nature. It discusses the metaphysical, ethical, and aesthetic meaning of topophilia, and how topophilia and Chinese philosophical foundations influence the Chinese environmental ethics attitude toward nature.
