This communication concerns an intervention we carried out within a parapharmaceutical company, where the production is of low added value and where operators carry out a cadenced and repetitive work on assembly-lines. The site, in competition with other from developing countries, is under strong pressure on its productivity. Our results show that the main constraints for operators were the difficulty of bringing into coherence their environment on the one hand and the purpose of their actions on the other hand. However, addressing this issue of coherence raises many questions for ergonomist. Indeed, the context restricts dramatically the possibilities of change and its sustainability. However, the notion of coherence questions strongly the approach and the concepts that can be mobilized during the intervention. So, we have to find new ways for action. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
