Abstract

Student leagues (undergraduate student groups) are student associations that aim to integrate the activities of teaching, research, and university extension. However, they may reinforce academic biases. Hence, there have been proposals for regulating and promoting student leagues. This paper describes the implementation of a process of regulation of leagues at Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul and the experience obtained with the first four proposed leagues. We observed that the regulation of these leagues enabled the students to acquire competences in administration and leadership (as prescribed in the Brazilian National Curriculum Guidelines). The students also discussed current aspects of professional training, such as interdisciplinarity, evaluation, and university extension. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
