Abstract

Relying on the fact that the number of e-books, as well as their application in the educational process is growing daily in the world, it is evident that it becomes an integral part of primary and secondary education. The goal of this paper is to present a framework and challenges of introducing e-books readable on tablet and handheld device in teaching by linking the area of publishing and pedagogy. The purpose of this paper is the introduction of e-textbooks in school education and the documents of Republic of Croatia that are relevant to this area. Accordingly, this paper examines also the attitude of editors of school textbooks in the publishing houses of the e-textbook readable on tablets and handheld reader in the context of the teaching process in primary and secondary schools in Republic of Croatia. The research results showed that the introduction of e-books readable on the handheld device and a tablet, at the national level, is still not fully possible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
