Abstract
- The use of Internal Reference Materials (IRM) constitutes a technical and economically feasible alternative to ensure tests reliability for quality in the manufacture of steels. This paper proposes the preparation and evaluation of IRM for the internal control of the essays to determine C, Mn and Si contents in carbon and low-alloy steel samples. Optical Emission Spectrometric was the technique used to conduct the study. Moreover, statistical methods for the evaluation of the homogeneity in repeatability conditions and the content estimate of these elements in the IMR in intra-laboratory reproducibility conditions were applied. The results showed that MRI complies with indicators of homogeneity required for its analytical use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
